One of my absolute favorite books, since I became engaged in this industry, is Leatrice Eiseman's - The Pantone Guide to Communicating with Color. I recommend two books, Color: Messages and Meanings and/or Pantone Guide to Communicating with Color. This is great resource for choosing color combinations I use for various projects. Color Collective reminds me of a much hipper version of my Pantone Guide to Communicating with Color book that I had to buy for one of my early design classes. Messages and meaning is a continuation of PANTONE Guide communicate with the colors, could even be considered a sequel. Excerpts from Pantone® Guide to Communicating in Color by Leatrice Eiseman. This book addresses the relationship of colors to feelings, and demonstrates how they combine both by accident, because their associations are not mere matters of taste, but of universal experiences that are deeply rooted in our language and our thinking. It's the first book I refer to when starting a new project if I'm the one to determine the color palette. It is the Pantone Guide to Communicating with Color. Color Collective is one of my favorite sites. It provides a great number and variety of information about the colors, like proverbs and sayings, their use in Pantone's Guide to Communicating with Color. Honestly, with a subject like color, someone could write an entire book on this subject – and they have, lots of them. I probably use Pantone's Guide to Communicating with Color more often than any other design resource book. I did already have a journal (though not moleskin), Green Eggs and Ham, Pantone's Guide to Communicating with Color, Photoshop Wow!
