Having recently enjoyed The Collected Stories of Vernor Vinge, I had high expectations for Rainbows End. This remarkable anthology reprints Hugo winner Vinge's (The Collected Stories of Vernor Vinge) "True Names" (1981), the story that began SF's cyberpunk revolution, with 11 essays showing its effect on science as well as fiction. Singularity 101 with Vernor Vinge (Thanks, Destiny!) I write books More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). The Peace War was a good read; definitely in a lower tier than his other work though. I found most of the stories in the first half of the book to be minorly entertaining and the stories in the second half of the book to be o.k.
